What is BE?

Goooooood question! I can't count how many times this has been asked to me, actually I can't count the number of times I have asked myself this question. What's pretty great is that over this semester, I have been able to come up with more and more ways I can answer this. I originally chose course 20 because out of 5, 7, 10, and 20 the courses required for 20 seemed the most interesting to me, little did I know it was exactly where I needed to be. Bio engineering is such an amazing mixture of biology, chemistry, math, physics, and multiple other things depending on what branch of BE you are looking at. In 320 this semester, our TA's told us that if we are asked at a job interview, we should say that course 20 makes us stick out because we are able to model complex systems unlike many other majors. I think this is definitely true, but I think one of the most amazing things has to be the adaptability we have and the broad range that we have the opportunity to work in. 20.109 is a great example of that from genetic engineering in mod 1 to systems biology in mod 2 and then to combining circuits with biology, I truly think the possibilities are endless and it makes me both excited and a little bit scared for my future. I have so many opportunities, but how can I ever pick! That's the next question to be answered I suppose, "So what are you going to do with your bioengineering degree?" .
......To be determined.
